This summer, from 14 July (at 00:00) to 17 August (at 23:59), Vilnius Airport (VNO) will be closed for runway reconstruction. During this time, the majority of regular flights to Vilnius will be redirected to Kaunas Airport (KUN), which is only one hour away from Vilnius and has convenient public transport connections to Vilnius city center.
You’ll be able to find the most up-to-date timetables and related information about getting to Vilnius at the Tourist Information Center in Kaunas Airport.

Shuttle Services by Ollex
The Ollex airport shuttle service offers multiple trips between Vilnius and Kaunas Airports every day (every 30 minutes). Shuttle timetables are synchronised with flight arrivals and departures. Visit the Ollex website to purchase tickets and consult the daily timetables. A one-way ticket costs €10 and the trip takes 1 hour and 30 minutes. The buses arrive the bus stop next to the McDonald’s located by the Vilnius Bus Station (see map here). Shuttle Services by TOKS (Bus Station)
Another company offering regular shuttle transportation (8-9 times per day) during the airport runway reconstruction period is TOKS. Visit this website to purchase tickets and consult the daily timetables (see the direct route from the Kaunas Airport to Vilnius Bus Station). Tickets cost €10 each and the trip takes 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Via Kaunas City:
You can use public transport (bus No. 29) to reach the Kaunas Train Station from Kaunas Airport. Follow the directions at the airport to get to the bus stop. The bus ticket can be purchased on board and costs €0.80. The trip takes around 50 minutes. The bus No. 29 timetable can be found here .
You can also choose to take a regular intercity bus to Vilnius Bus Station from the Kaunas Central Bus Station. Buses going from Kaunas to Vilnius and back run every 15-20 minutes during the day, with longer intervals in the early morning and late at night. Bus timetables can be found and tickets purchased online. Prices for a one-way bus ticket from Kaunas to Vilnius start at €5.70 and the shortest trip takes 1 hour and 35 minutes.
If you wish to travel to Vilnius by train, you can choose the convenient express train service. Trains running between Kaunas and Vilnius run from every 30 minutes to every 2 hours, depending on the time of the day. The shortest trip takes just 1 hour and 6 minutes and the ticket prices range from approximately €4 to €6 (depending on whether it’s peak hour and on seating class selection).
